We Are Winners Of Verizon's 2014 Powerful Answers Award!
/The long wait is finally over! After the official unveiling on February 3rd, the Books That Grow team is honored and proud to announce that we have been chosen as a winner of Verizon's 2014 Powerful Answers Award, in the Education Category.
The mission of Verizon’s Powerful Answers competition is to reward companies, entrepreneurs, or thought leaders for bringing transformative ideas or business solutions to market. These organizations, or initiatives, are aligned with the following sectors; Education, Health-care, Sustainability, and Transportation, and each addresses a significant global issue.
Other winners in the 2014 Education category are Sesame Enable, and School Yourself. In many ways, Sesame Enable and School Yourself share our vision for the future of education—a future where education is personalized, inclusive, and accessible for all. Sesame Enable has created a smartphone app that will allow disabled users to use their phones with touch-free and voice integrated technology. School Yourself has designed and launched an online math platform complete with free personalized lessons, and the assessments to monitor student progress. Candidates aren’t judged by the caliber of their ideas alone, but also by their commitment to using technological innovations to make the most far-reaching contributions. In addition to the recognition of Books That Grow’s vision and business model, the award grants each of its winners a cash prize. This $250,000 prize will allow Books That Grow to quickly invest in our vision for the future of education.
This award means a great deal to Books That Grow, and we plan to immediately pass on the investment to you, our users and partners in teaching. If you haven’t already, please take advantage of our most recent upgrade which, gives teachers more control over their user experience by allowing them to create accounts on demand, for yourselves and your students within an online classroom. We will continue to reaffirm our dedication to improving classrooms for students and teachers alike. In the next few months, we plan on building Common Core aligned assessments into our books, expanding our library, and bringing you trade content from your favorite authors! We can’t do this without your help, and we don’t want to. The developments at Books That Grow are the results of our active partnership with you, our customers. We are genuinely interested in what features—and books—you’d like to see added to the free services we offer. Please, send us an email and make your voice heard! Books That Grow is a tool created by educators, for educators, and there’s no other way for it to be. Thank you for helping us make it so.
