The Necklace is a fabulous little story about the fleeting power of appearances and the trouble that comes from basing one's self-worth on material things. The story follows a traditionally tragic plot line, that ends with a heartbreaking reversal. It makes for a compelling read and a fruitful resource for a variety of things that teachers might want to teach.
