This story provides an interesting opportunity for the teacher to share with his or her class a creation myth that is not a clear derivative (or formative text, for that matter) of the Judeo-Christian creation story. You might pose this question to your students, "By analyzing this myth, what are some of the biggest moral questions of the Abenaki people?"
